 Welcome to Eric Harvie Kindergarten!  We are excited to meet you and work with you this year!  When we meet you tomorrow we will be wearing masks, but here is a picture of us so that you know what we look like underneath the mask!

We are excited to have you at school with us!  Here are a couple of reminders to make it run as smooth as possible.

 

We will begin the Kindergarten year with 2 staggered entry days. This means half of each Kindergarten class will attend either Wednesday, September 2 OR Thursday, September 3 according to the designated schedule shown below.  Please note there is no school for Kindergarten students on Friday, September 4.

 

Wednesday, September 2

·       AM students whose last names begin with the letters A-L will attend Kindergarten from 8:20-11:15am.

·       PM students whose last names begin with the letters A-L will attend Kindergarten from 12:10-3:05pm.

 

Thursday, September 3

·       AM students whose last names begin with the letters M-Z will attend Kindergarten from 8:20-11:15am.

·       PM students whose last names begin with the letters M-Z will attend Kindergarten from 12:10-3:05pm.

 

Regular AM/PM classes will begin on Tuesday, September 8.

 

Please line up at the 4W doors which area located at the southwest corner of the school, by the parking lot and garbage cans.  Please do not walk through the parking lot, as it is unsafe.  Please line your child up physically distanced along the school wall underneath the windows.  Please ensure that your child is wearing their mask.  Students will be stopping on the way into the school to hand sanitize. 

 

Please ensure that your child’s mask is labelled with their name.  Students do not need to bring a pair of indoor shoes to school at this time.  For the month of September, we will not be changing shoes when we arrive at school.  Please ensure that your child is wearing shoes that are comfortable and that they can use for gym activities outside.


Each Kindergarten child will bring home a ziploc bag with 2 government issued face masks in it.  Please wash the masks and label with your child's name.  Please note:  all kindergarten students are receiving the same patterned masks, a name on it will be essential!

 

Kindergarten class lists will be finalized after the staggered entry days and you will receive an email on Friday, September 4 to share with you who your child’s teacher is.

 Tomorrow is library day.  Please return your library book. Friday is AM Friday.  There is no school Friday January 29 as it is a Professional Development day. Monday February 22

We started learning about 2d and 3d shapes. The children were given popsicle sticks and pipe cleaners and had to make as many shapes as they could. We talked about each shape and what it looks like. We played shape games with a partner where one partner drew a shape and the other had to ask yes or no questions to try and figure out what the shape is. For example, "Does it have 4 corners?" "Does it have 3 sides?" etc.  We continued to work on our penguin dioramas.  We had music and gym. Ask your child what they did with Mrs. Coulson and Mr. Der? Wednesday is PINK shirt day. We used q-tips and paint to paint dots on the letter D.
