2020-2021 Kindergarten

Today our class learned what it would be like to be a chef and made an imaginary fruit salad in their visual journals. What kind of tools does a chef use to help them? We had music with Mrs. Coulson and played parachute games. Mrs. Mask's classes enjoyed another go at the climbing wall and playing cooperative games in gym. Mrs. Card visited our classroom with the library cart to exchange books and we had fun snack! Upcoming dates Friday is PM Kindergarten.  This is also the last day of school before Spring Break.   Tuesday April 6 - School resumes after Spring Break.   Thursday April 8- Picture day Friday April 9 - AM Kindergarten

We learned about the letter Z and practiced printing the letter. Listen to the  Letter Z Jolly Phonics  Song. Today we spent some time learning about how construction workers help the community. The kids pretended they were construction workers and drew the ultimate plan for a school!  In math, we went on a shape hunt and drew some of the 3D objects in our classroom. Ask your child if they can find a sphere, a cube, a cylinder, or a cone in your house!  There is also  Monster Mansion Shape Match  on www.abcya.com to practice matching shapes at home.  Friday is PM Kindergarten. We plan to go on a community walk that day so please dress for the weather. 

Tomorrow is Inspirational Shirt Day - please wear a fun shirt with a positive message on it!  We look forward to seeing all the great messages on your shirts! Today was a great day at school!  We continued to learn about community helpers and how they help in our community.  We traced our hands and cut out the shape.  We wrote "I am helpful" on the hands.  This reminds us that even Kindergarten kids can be community helpers and be helpful at school and at home.   In math, we used squishy cylinders (mini marshmallows) and toothpicks to build 2D shapes and 3D objects.  Please ask your child what they were able to build. In gym, Mrs. Mask's AM class had their turn on the climbing wall. Upcoming dates Thursday: Home reading books & library book to be returned.  Fun Snack!
