Tomorrow we will be having a virtual field trip to the Calgary Zoo. We will be visiting and learning about the penguins. For the field trip day we wanted the children to dress like penguins. Please wear black and white for the day. 

New home reading books are in your child's colored folder.  Please return the home reading books on Thursday.  Just a reminder, please record only home reading books on the book log sheet.  Thanks!

Friday is an AM Friday.

Today at school we read the book, Penguin Problems.  In our journals we drew pictures of a penguin problem and of a problem that a person could have.  We copied the words Penguin and Person to add to our drawings.  We continue to encourage the children to try and label their pictures with the beginning sounds they hear in words or try an sound out a short sentence to go with their drawing.

We had gym and music today.








Get outside and be active! 

Wednesday, February 3 is this year’s Winter Walk Day.  The goal is to get more Albertans physically active outdoors during the winter.  Just because it is cold outside, it does not mean we can’t be active outdoors.  Most of us already doing this; February 3 is a great time to celebrate it.  It may be as simple as walking to and from school, playing in the snow, taking a walk after dinner, going bird watching, or any of the countless activities we are fortunate to be able to do during the winter.

 Tomorrow is library day.  Please return your library book. Friday is AM Friday.  There is no school Friday January 29 as it is a Professional Development day. Monday February 22

We started learning about 2d and 3d shapes. The children were given popsicle sticks and pipe cleaners and had to make as many shapes as they could. We talked about each shape and what it looks like. We played shape games with a partner where one partner drew a shape and the other had to ask yes or no questions to try and figure out what the shape is. For example, "Does it have 4 corners?" "Does it have 3 sides?" etc.  We continued to work on our penguin dioramas.  We had music and gym. Ask your child what they did with Mrs. Coulson and Mr. Der? Wednesday is PINK shirt day.
