Monday December 7

Today we read the story, Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree. We discussed what happened in the story and then drew a picture about it in our journals. We tried to retell the story with our pictures and words. We used our swirly printing and tried to label drawings and print words. As writers, we can get our ideas down on the paper and sharing our story orally and by using swirls, letters or sounds to put our ideas on paper.






During math, we used measurement to create the trees we saw in Mr. Willowby's Christmas tree. We had strips of paper and used the longest strip on the bottom of the tree and then had to cut the other pieces smaller than the last to create the tree. 




We took advantage of the beautiful weather today and went outside to play on the playground. 

We also had music with Mrs. Coulson.

 Tomorrow is library day.  Please return your library book. Friday is AM Friday.  There is no school Friday January 29 as it is a Professional Development day. Monday February 22

We started learning about 2d and 3d shapes. The children were given popsicle sticks and pipe cleaners and had to make as many shapes as they could. We talked about each shape and what it looks like. We played shape games with a partner where one partner drew a shape and the other had to ask yes or no questions to try and figure out what the shape is. For example, "Does it have 4 corners?" "Does it have 3 sides?" etc.  We continued to work on our penguin dioramas.  We had music and gym. Ask your child what they did with Mrs. Coulson and Mr. Der? Wednesday is PINK shirt day.
