Wednesday September 16

We started our day by looking at book bins. We talked about how we are all readers and we can start by just looking at the pictures in the book and telling ourself a story.

We reread the story, "Our Class is Family," and we read the story "Same, Same but Different".  We talked about our families and counted how many people live in our house.

We drew pictures of our family in our journals. We made a graph of how many people are in our family and talked about what we noticed. 

Please take note of the yellow x's which are spray painted outside our doors. Please have your child stand on an x as they wait to have their hands sanitized prior to entering the building. Kindergarten x's are located on the left hand side if you are facing the doors.  Please use x's instead of lining up on the wall. Thank you for your cooperation. 

Today we sent home our first Scholastic book order for this year.  All orders must be placed by Sept 25.

Please return all library books tomorrow.

Please remember Friday is a PM Friday.  There is no school for AM Kindergarten.  

Please note:  there is no school Thursday September 24 or Friday September 25 for Kindergarten.  This will be parent teacher conferences.  Please watch for more information.

Monday February 22

We started learning about 2d and 3d shapes. The children were given popsicle sticks and pipe cleaners and had to make as many shapes as they could. We talked about each shape and what it looks like. We played shape games with a partner where one partner drew a shape and the other had to ask yes or no questions to try and figure out what the shape is. For example, "Does it have 4 corners?" "Does it have 3 sides?" etc.  We continued to work on our penguin dioramas.  We had music and gym. Ask your child what they did with Mrs. Coulson and Mr. Der? Wednesday is PINK shirt day.
