Today was a great day at school!  We started the day by exploring with loose parts and playing at literacy centers. We watched a video to learn more about Penguins.  We worked on filling in a chart to complete the following sentences.  Penguins can Penguins are Penguins have Please ask your child if they can fill in the sentences so that they can share some of their new learning about penguins. This week is letter N.  Please enjoy the  Letter N Song We played the math game "How many are hiding?"  In partners we each had 10 counters and 1 cup.  We took turns hiding some of the chips under the cup.  Once some of the chips were hidden we then guessed how many chips were hiding under the cup.  Ask your child to play this game at home with you.  You can use any small counter items at home to give this a try.

Today at school we had a special visitor!  It was a penguin (stuffed of course!).  Over the next few weeks we are going to start learning about penguins at school.  Today we began by asking 2 questions.  What do you know about penguins and what do you want to know about penguins. Today we read the story  If You Were a Penguin  and completed a journal response.  We played how many bears are hiding.  The children played in pairs. They counted out 10 bears. Their partner would close their eyes as they places some bears under a cup. Their partner would then open their eyes and have to figure out how many bears were hiding under the cup.  Try practicing this game at home. We had gym with Mr. Der and worked on catching with a partner with a beach ball.  We had music with Mrs. Coulson.  We played the magic button shop game. Friday is an AM Friday.
