 Today at school we had a special visitor!  It was a penguin (stuffed of course!).  Over the next few weeks we are going to start learning about penguins at school.  Today we began by asking 2 questions.  What do you know about penguins and what do you want to know about penguins.

Today we read the story If You Were a Penguin and completed a journal response. 

We played how many bears are hiding.  The children played in pairs. They counted out 10 bears. Their partner would close their eyes as they places some bears under a cup. Their partner would then open their eyes and have to figure out how many bears were hiding under the cup.  Try practicing this game at home.

We had gym with Mr. Der and worked on catching with a partner with a beach ball.  We had music with Mrs. Coulson.  We played the magic button shop game.

Friday is an AM Friday.

 Tomorrow is library day.  Please return your library book. Friday is AM Friday.  There is no school Friday January 29 as it is a Professional Development day. Monday February 22

We started learning about 2d and 3d shapes. The children were given popsicle sticks and pipe cleaners and had to make as many shapes as they could. We talked about each shape and what it looks like. We played shape games with a partner where one partner drew a shape and the other had to ask yes or no questions to try and figure out what the shape is. For example, "Does it have 4 corners?" "Does it have 3 sides?" etc.  We continued to work on our penguin dioramas.  We had music and gym. Ask your child what they did with Mrs. Coulson and Mr. Der? Wednesday is PINK shirt day.
