 Howdy folks!  Today was Western Day at school!  Thank you to everyone who wear their best Western clothes to help us celebrate the end of the school year.  

Please remember next Wednesday June 16 is Wacky Wednesday!  How will you dress wacky?

We worked on the letter I today and turned the I into an ice cream cone.  There were many yummy looking cones being painted in the classroom today.  Letter I song

We began researching our second bug for our All About Bugs non-fiction book.  Please ask your child what interesting facts they learned about bees.

We continue to work on problem solving and completing basic addition questions.  We used manipulatives to help us figure out the answer.  We continue to work on the skill of counting on from a given number.

 Tomorrow is library day.  Please return your library book. Friday is AM Friday.  There is no school Friday January 29 as it is a Professional Development day. We started learning about 2d and 3d shapes. The children were given popsicle sticks and pipe cleaners and had to make as many shapes as they could. We talked about each shape and what it looks like. We played shape games with a partner where one partner drew a shape and the other had to ask yes or no questions to try and figure out what the shape is. For example, "Does it have 4 corners?" "Does it have 3 sides?" etc.  We continued to work on our penguin dioramas.  We had music and gym. Ask your child what they did with Mrs. Coulson and Mr. Der? Wednesday is PINK shirt day. We used q-tips and paint to paint dots on the letter D.
