 Today was a great day at school.

We continued to explore problem solving by answering the following question.

I have 7 bugs.  Some are ladybugs and some are bees.  How many of each do I have?

We used cubes to count out our bugs and then practiced writing the addition sentence to go with it, for example 3+4=7.

We read the story "The Littlest Gardener" and talked about the tools we need to make our garden grow.  Please ask your child what tool they made for the garden.

NO school Friday as it is a PD day. 

We are asking if each child can bring in a clean plastic lid (yogurt, sour cream, cream cheese, hummus etc.) for an upcoming plasticine art project. Please label the lid with your child's name. All lids need to be at school by Wednesday June 9.  Thank you :)

 Tomorrow is library day.  Please return your library book. Friday is AM Friday.  There is no school Friday January 29 as it is a Professional Development day. We started learning about 2d and 3d shapes. The children were given popsicle sticks and pipe cleaners and had to make as many shapes as they could. We talked about each shape and what it looks like. We played shape games with a partner where one partner drew a shape and the other had to ask yes or no questions to try and figure out what the shape is. For example, "Does it have 4 corners?" "Does it have 3 sides?" etc.  We continued to work on our penguin dioramas.  We had music and gym. Ask your child what they did with Mrs. Coulson and Mr. Der? Wednesday is PINK shirt day.
