Math - Nature Sundaes

Materials: clear cup (plastic is preferable), journal, pencil, pencil crayons, natural items

Please enjoy the video of Mrs. Conley making a nature sundae.  After you've watched the video, it's your turn to make a nature sundae.  Please gather natural items maybe from your yard, the coulee or by the pond.  After you've built your sundae, please draw a picture of your sundae in your journal and record the number of various items that are found in your sundae!

Challenge of the Day - Sock Art
Materials needed: socks, the more the better!

 Tomorrow is library day.  Please return your library book. Friday is AM Friday.  There is no school Friday January 29 as it is a Professional Development day. Monday February 22

We started learning about 2d and 3d shapes. The children were given popsicle sticks and pipe cleaners and had to make as many shapes as they could. We talked about each shape and what it looks like. We played shape games with a partner where one partner drew a shape and the other had to ask yes or no questions to try and figure out what the shape is. For example, "Does it have 4 corners?" "Does it have 3 sides?" etc.  We continued to work on our penguin dioramas.  We had music and gym. Ask your child what they did with Mrs. Coulson and Mr. Der? Wednesday is PINK shirt day. We used q-tips and paint to paint dots on the letter D.
