 It was so nice to have everyone back at school today. We started the day by choosing new spots to sit. We worked on our journals and drew pictures and wrote about something we did over the holidays. 

We continued to learn about community helpers. Today we looked at mail carriers. We read Delivering Your Mail. We learned how to write a letter and wrote a letter to someone special. 

We watched Shape Robot and then made our own shape robot. What shapes did your child use in their robot? 

We will begin learning about measurement. Mrs. Conley's class started with looking at measuring items that were shorter and longer than a popsicle stick. What did your child find that was longer or short? Can you find items in your own that are shorter or longer than a popsicle stick. 

We had gym and centers today.

Friday is AM kindergarten.

We started learning about 2d and 3d shapes. The children were given popsicle sticks and pipe cleaners and had to make as many shapes as they could. We talked about each shape and what it looks like. We played shape games with a partner where one partner drew a shape and the other had to ask yes or no questions to try and figure out what the shape is. For example, "Does it have 4 corners?" "Does it have 3 sides?" etc.  We continued to work on our penguin dioramas.  We had music and gym. Ask your child what they did with Mrs. Coulson and Mr. Der? Wednesday is PINK shirt day.
