Today we practiced writing the letter Y in our visual journals. Ask your child what words they know that start with Y. Listen to  Letter Y Song Jolly Phonics

Today is animal day and there were lots of classroom creatures! 

We continued our study of shapes in Math, this time comparing 2D shapes with 3D objects. 

We also learned about St. Patrick's Day and talked about the word mischievous!

We had gym and continued to practice our gymnastic skills.

 Tomorrow is library day.  Please return your library book. Friday is AM Friday.  There is no school Friday January 29 as it is a Professional Development day. We started learning about 2d and 3d shapes. The children were given popsicle sticks and pipe cleaners and had to make as many shapes as they could. We talked about each shape and what it looks like. We played shape games with a partner where one partner drew a shape and the other had to ask yes or no questions to try and figure out what the shape is. For example, "Does it have 4 corners?" "Does it have 3 sides?" etc.  We continued to work on our penguin dioramas.  We had music and gym. Ask your child what they did with Mrs. Coulson and Mr. Der? Wednesday is PINK shirt day. We used q-tips and paint to paint dots on the letter D.
