Kindergarten Student Involved Conferences

Hello Kindergarten Families,

Since we cannot have you in our class to showcase our work, we will have the students show you some of their learning through IRIS and activities to try at home. We are so proud of all their hard work this year!

2. Find and build sets with numbers 1 through 10. For example 1 fork, 2 spoons, 3 books...etc.

3. Play Card Games: Go Fish, War, Crazy 8's etc. (Remove Jacks, Queens and Kings from deck for children to focus on numbers A-10)

How to play War ( to practice skill of counting on)

All cards are dealt to the two players and kept face down. Neither player must look at their cards. Both players turn over the top 2 cards of their piles and put them face up in the centre of the table, beside the other player’s card. The players must add the number cards together. We are practicing the skill of counting on ( For example, 5 and 7 turned over. Pick the highest number and count on from that number. 7 then count on 5 more) Whoever has turned over the highest ranking card takes all cards and adds them to the bottom of his pile. Please state out loud ______ is higher than _____. Play continues until one player runs out of cards.

Celebrate your child's learning:

Set a goal with your child. What are your goals for your child? What are their goals? Please upload this to IRIS to share with your teacher.
