Wednesday February 10

Thank you to everyone who wore red, pink and white!  Everyone looked so great!

We looked at the dissolving heart experiment again today.  We learned that the hearts dissolved in all the liquids except for the oil.  The hearts in the oil look the same as when we put them in the jar on Monday!  Many of the hearts in the other jars lost all their color too!

We worked on the letter L and turned the L's in to ladybug love bugs.

We had gym with Mr. Der.  We completed some very fun Valentines themed workouts.  Please try them out at home this weekend.

Mrs. Conley's class celebrated Valentines Day virtually with Mr. Kelly's Grade 3/4 buddies.  We played a get to know each other game and then read the story Drawing Lessons from a Bear.  Mr. Kelly did a guided drawing lesson of a bear and then we created Valentine's cards for someone special at home.

Mrs. Mask's AM class had buddies with Mrs. Day's Grade 1/2 Class. We listened to the story "Love, Splat" and then we played a few games of 20 Questions. We had a lot of fun playing with them.

Mrs. Mask's PM class had buddies with Mrs. Cox's Grade 3/4 class. We played games together. We played true or false and 20 questions. It was fun!

Please send your child to school on Tuesday February 16 with 1 box (a shoe box or a clean pizza box).  Please talk with your child if they want to make a winter scene for their penguin or a warm climate scene for their penguin.  After your child has decided which scene they would like to build, please include some of the following items that your child could use to build their scene that correspond to the season (warm or cold) that your child will be building.  Please label your child's box with their name and put their additional supplies inside.  Please do not send the items early to school as we a limited storage space.  Thank you!

Some examples of additional materials could include: styrofoam, pompoms, cotton balls or cotton batting, jewels or gems, foam snowflakes, small toy penguins, small rocks, buttons, egg cartons, clean bottle caps, construction paper, cellophane paper, be creative when looking around the house for additional materials.

At school each child will be making a plasticine penguin to add to their scene.  Students will also have access to paint, glue and additional supplies at school to use.  Please see the photos below to provide some inspiration.

Please remember there is no school on Thursday, Friday or Monday.  See everyone back at school on Tuesday.  Enjoy your long weekend & stay warm!
