Tuesday February 9

Tomorrow is red, white and pink day at school.  Please dress in your best red, white and pink.

Today morning Kindergarten had the opportunity to participate in a virtual Earth Ranger program.  We learned many interesting facts about animals and how we can help to protect animals and the environment.  Please ask your child what they learned.

The kindness ninjas were back again today and this time created Valentines cards that will be delivered to a seniors centre (all COVID protocols will be adhered to prior to the delivery being made).  We added kind words and words of hope on heart shaped sticky notes to the giant mural in the hub.

We checked in on our dissolving heart science experiment from yesterday.  We were surprised to see some of the liquid has turned brown.  We love the milk and hearts the best as it looks like rainbow milk on the bottom.

We also played a math game with dice.  We were practicing recognizing dots on a dice (subitizing) and writing the numbers 1-6.

Afternoon Kindergarten read "Love Monster" and then drew our own love monster and used watercolours and pencil crayons to colour them in.

Please remember there is no school Thursday, Friday or next Monday.

Please send your child to school on Tuesday February 16 with 1 box (a shoe box or a clean pizza box).  Please talk with your child if they want to make a winter scene for their penguin or a warm climate scene for their penguin.  After your child has decided which scene they would like to build, please include some of the following items that your child could use to build their scene that correspond to the season (warm or cold) that your child will be building.  Please label your child's box with their name and put their additional supplies inside.  Please do not send the items early to school as we a limited storage space.  Thank you!

Some examples of additional materials could include: styrofoam, pompoms, cotton balls or cotton batting, jewels or gems, foam snowflakes, small toy penguins, small rocks, buttons, egg cartons, clean bottle caps, construction paper, cellophane paper, be creative when looking around the house for additional materials.

At school each child will be making a plasticine penguin to add to their scene.  Students will also have access to paint, glue and additional supplies at school to use.  Please see the photos below to provide some inspiration.

Please see yesterday's blog for a couple of photos for inspiration if needed.
