Thursday February 4

Today we talked about non fiction books and looked at the table of contents, glossary and index. We were looking for information about the habitat of a penguin. We looked at a world map and talked about the map and where we find penguins. Ask your child what habitat means and where do we find penguins. 



We played math number games and practiced counting on from a given number. 

We had library exchange, music and gym. 

Tomorrow is AM Kindergarten.

If you have any clean clear glass jars (jam, pickle, sauces etc.) could you please send one with your child to school. We are looking for a total of 15 jars for a science experiment the week of February 8th. Thank you :)

An important announcement about Valentines at school this year.  Unfortunately, due to COVID protocols students will not allowed to exchange Valentines cards at school.  We will celebrate Valentine's Day on Wednesday February 10th with red, white and pink day.  Students are encouraged to dress in their finest Valentine's colours.  We will work with our students to show kindness at school in ways that keep us all safe and healthy.  Thank you for your understanding.  If you have questions, please email your child's teacher.

 Tomorrow is library day.  Please return your library book. Friday is AM Friday.  There is no school Friday January 29 as it is a Professional Development day. Monday February 22

We started learning about 2d and 3d shapes. The children were given popsicle sticks and pipe cleaners and had to make as many shapes as they could. We talked about each shape and what it looks like. We played shape games with a partner where one partner drew a shape and the other had to ask yes or no questions to try and figure out what the shape is. For example, "Does it have 4 corners?" "Does it have 3 sides?" etc.  We continued to work on our penguin dioramas.  We had music and gym. Ask your child what they did with Mrs. Coulson and Mr. Der? Wednesday is PINK shirt day.
