Math: Numbers in our world 

Materials: 4 pieces of paper (8 1/2x 11, divided into 4 and cut into 4 rectangles), pencil, small bag

Please have your child find 4 numbers in their environment that are important to them, ie. House number, phone numbers, age, members in family, birthdates, sports numbers etc. Write down each number on a piece of paper, write why the number is important and place papers in a small bag. Please bring the bag of numbers to school when we return.

Loose Parts Challenge


Use your loose parts to create an animal we might find in the winter. What is the animal doing? Share your picture with us on IRIS. 


If you cannot attend the google meet, listen to Snow Dance. While you are listening to the story can you try and pick out any of the rhyming words. Rhyming words are words that have similar or the same ending sound. For example, cat, hat, bat, rat, etc.

 Tomorrow is library day.  Please return your library book. Friday is AM Friday.  There is no school Friday January 29 as it is a Professional Development day. Monday February 22

We started learning about 2d and 3d shapes. The children were given popsicle sticks and pipe cleaners and had to make as many shapes as they could. We talked about each shape and what it looks like. We played shape games with a partner where one partner drew a shape and the other had to ask yes or no questions to try and figure out what the shape is. For example, "Does it have 4 corners?" "Does it have 3 sides?" etc.  We continued to work on our penguin dioramas.  We had music and gym. Ask your child what they did with Mrs. Coulson and Mr. Der? Wednesday is PINK shirt day. We used q-tips and paint to paint dots on the letter D.
