Welcome back to school!  We are thrilled to be back in person today!

Today we started by reading the story, "I Like." We talked about how when we are reading we place our finger under each word as we read the sentence. We talked about the importance of looking at the pictures to give us clues about what the sentence is about. We then looked at the beginning sounds of the words to see if they matched the pictures. 

After reading, we continued to work on our writing.  We answered the question, "What do you like?".  Students then copied "I like" and tried to sound out words to complete the sentence.  We also continue to work on labeling our pictures with the first sounds we hear in words.

We had music with Mrs. Coulson and gym with Mr. Der.  Please ask your child what they did in music and gym.

We started learning about 2d and 3d shapes. The children were given popsicle sticks and pipe cleaners and had to make as many shapes as they could. We talked about each shape and what it looks like. We played shape games with a partner where one partner drew a shape and the other had to ask yes or no questions to try and figure out what the shape is. For example, "Does it have 4 corners?" "Does it have 3 sides?" etc.  We continued to work on our penguin dioramas.  We had music and gym. Ask your child what they did with Mrs. Coulson and Mr. Der? Wednesday is PINK shirt day. We used q-tips and paint to paint dots on the letter D.
