Friday January 8th is an AM Friday. PM Kindergarten is welcome to join Mrs. Coulson for music and complete any activities on the blog. There is no requirement for PM Kindies to attend google meets today.

If you cannot make the meet, listen to Sneezy the Snowman. After reading the story, fold a piece of paper in half or draw a line down the middle of the page. Write hot at the top of the page on one section and then cold on the other. Draw out items that are hot that would melt Sneezy and cold items that would keep sneezy cool. Try and label your drawing with their beginning sound.
Math: Games
Materials: 2 dice, deck of cards (ace to 10 only), a bowl and 50 counters per player (could be cereal, small pieces of lego, etc)
Dice Flash: Alternately flash one die or two dice at your child for about 2 seconds and then hide the dice. Ask them how many dots they think were on the dice. This will be difficult for most students at first, but will get easier with time. Recognizing arrangements of dots on dice, without having to count the dots is called subitizing. This is an important skill for Kindergarten children to learn.
Sequencing: Have your child arrange the cards in one suit in order from smallest to largest and then largest to smallest.
Take Away: Player one rolls the dice and takes away that number of counters from their fifty and places them in the container (bowl). Players alternate turns, taking away their counters. The first player to have only one counter left is the winner.
Extension: What am I hiding? Use ten counters. One partner hides some of the counters. The other partner counts the remaining counters and tries to determine how many are hiding.
