Monday November 23

Today we read Todd Parr's book, "It's Okay to Be Different".  We are continuing to talk about what makes each one of us unique.  Please ask your child what makes them unique!  Please enjoy the What Does He Look Like? song.  Mrs. Conley's class used mirrors to look closely at ourselves and then practiced drawing ourselves in our journals.  We used watercolors to paint our self portraits.  Mrs. Mask's class also looked closely at themselves and drew 4 pictures about what makes each of them unique.

In math we learned about the number 8.  The Number 8 Song. Please have your child look around your house, where can they find the number 8?  Can they make a set of 8 things?  Please practice drawing the number 8 with your finger in the air, on the floor, on the table, on someone's back ...

Tomorrow we will be going outside to explore with colors in the snow.  Please make sure your child has their snowpants and waterproof mitts/gloves.  You may want to send an extra pair of gloves/mitts just in case the first pair gets wet.

Your child is bringing home their results of the EYE that was discussed at conferences.  Please check their backpack for this information.  Thank you to all our families who met with us at conferences.  We appreciate your time!

Families Helping Families

As is our tradition at Eric Harvie School, again this year we are calling on your kindness and generosity to help support a family in need at Christmas. This year, we will be supporting 10 families at Colonel Fred J. Scott School who may need a little extra help to make Christmas brighter. While in past years we asked for specific gift donations for individual family members, due to the pandemic, this year will look different.

This year we are asking for monetary donations. These donations will purchase a variety of gift cards (eg. Walmart, Superstore, Safeway) and small stocking stuffers gifted to each member of the 10 families in a stocking. Parent Council has generously offered their support by collecting the money via direct deposit and helping purchase the gifts.

Donations can be made via at ehsestreasurer@gmail.com (No password required.) and are welcomed on or before Monday November 30, 2020.

In the spirit of giving this holiday season, all staff at Eric Harvie School would like to thank families in advance for their contributions and making a family’s Christmas a little brighter!! Thank you also to our Parent Council for their support with this peace initiative.
