Today we read "The Thankful Book" by Todd Parr.  Please use the link if you would like to enjoy the story at home.  The Thankful Book

After reading the book, we had a discussion about what we are thankful for.  We drew a picture in our journals of what we are thankful for.  Today we learned about 5 star drawing.  Please ask your child what they learned about 5 star drawing.  








Please send your child with a pair of indoor shoes (comfortable shoes to participate in gym activities) in their backpack each day.  With the weather turning wet and snowy, we will need to start taking our outdoor shoes off when we enter the building.  Students will be carrying their indoor shoes to and from school each day in their backpacks.  Please make sure that your child's indoor shoes are labelled with their name.  Please send velcro shoes until your child is able to do laces independently.  

We are continuing to work on making patterns this week at school. You can practice at home by making patterns with objects or check out Fuzz Bugs Patterns game on abcya. https://www.abcya.com/games/fuzz_bugs_patterns

For Thursday, we are asking each child to bring a unique item found in nature. For example, a heart shaped rock, an interesting shaped stick, a flower, old birds nest. etc We will be using it to create a nature museum in the class. Thank you.

 Tomorrow is library day.  Please return your library book. Friday is AM Friday.  There is no school Friday January 29 as it is a Professional Development day. We started learning about 2d and 3d shapes. The children were given popsicle sticks and pipe cleaners and had to make as many shapes as they could. We talked about each shape and what it looks like. We played shape games with a partner where one partner drew a shape and the other had to ask yes or no questions to try and figure out what the shape is. For example, "Does it have 4 corners?" "Does it have 3 sides?" etc.  We continued to work on our penguin dioramas.  We had music and gym. Ask your child what they did with Mrs. Coulson and Mr. Der? Wednesday is PINK shirt day.
